IPv6 Convergence: EU Expert Conference
Vienna, 1-2 June 2006.
IPv6 provides the necessary basis for realising a global information society and is laying the ground for a convergence process between fixed and mobile as well as between data, voice and video through the Internet. Examples of such converging markets includes: transportation, media (Triple play – data, TV and voice), mobile operators (IMS - Internet Multimedia Subsystem), consumer/device market (pervasive computing) and defence (network centric warfare. This event builds on the existing IPv6 roadmap and will present results of a public consultation to be launched on the IPv6 developments, specific workshops with the public sector (including defence) and the media sector. Global IPv6 Summit in Korea
Seoul, 14-15 June 2006.
The internet already has grown and changed into an essential factor of our life. These changes also make us to change our way of thinking about communication into ubiquitous way. Now IPv6 is being considered as the core protocol in implementing the ubiquitous network. Korea is planning to build up its communication infrastructure to all-IP network through IT839 project (8 services, 3 infrastructures, 9 growth engines) and the IPv6 acts as the core role in that.

IPv6 Forum IPv6 Ready Program |
IPv6 Ready Logo Program
As one of its promotional activities, the IPv6 Forum ogranises the worldwide IPv6 Ready Logo Program, which is just beginning its Phase 2 activities and testing. The coordination of the Program is chaired by Hiroshi Esaki. Visit the Program web site to see how your product can earn the Logo.
Contrary to IPv4, which started with a small closed group of implementers, the universality of IPv6 leads to a huge number of implementations. Interoperability has always been considered as a critical feature in the Internet community.
Due to the large number of IPv6 implementations, it is important to provide the market a strong signal proving the level of interoperability across various products.

The IPv6 Forum has contributed to an OECD discussion within a workshop on the future of the Internet. Latif Ladid, IPv6 Forum President, and Jim Bound, IPv6 Forum Chief Technology Officer, responded to a number of questions, along with input from Mark Handley, who added "The problem is that addressing is the most fundamental part of the Internet, and it is through addressing (as reflected in routing protocols, etc) that almost all policy is expressed by Internet providers. As we run out of IPv4 addresses, the Internet won't come crashing to a halt. But the technical options will narrow. The effect is that this stiffles what is possible, not only technically, but also from an economic and public policy point of view too."
